Cost of Traditional Thanksgiving Meal (November 2015)The American Farm Bureau’s annual informal price survey puts this year’s traditional Thanksgiving meal cost up slightly from last year. The average meal for a family of 10 costs a total of $50.11, which comes out to a little over $5 per serving. This is a minor increase from last year’s survey which estimated the cost at $49.41.
The typical goods in preparing Thanksgiving dinner and used to calculate the total cost include: a 16-pound turkey, bread stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls with butter, peas, cranberries, a veggie relish tray with celery and carrots, pumpkin pie with whipped cream, and beverages with coffee and milk.
