FDA Releases New cGMP Draft Guidance for Animal Feed (August 2016)The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a draft guidance titled “Current Good Manufacturing Practice Requirements for Food for Animals” outlining requirements relevant to manufacturers who must register as food facilities due to their roles in the U.S. animal food industry. The document is intended to help these facilities assess cGMP standards for animal food established under Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals final rule published in September 2015, as well as determine how to comply.
The draft was written to reflect FDA’s current rationale regarding animal feed. The standards have been adjusted in an effort to increase the responsiveness and the ease of adaptability among facilities.
